SERVICES

SMALL ANIMAL MEDICINE

We are a full service medical clinic, which involves diseases such as skin/ear infections, kidney failure, congestive heart failure, and hypothyroidism, plus everything in between. The world of veterinary medicine is advancing ever so fast, and we stay on top of the changes with regular continuing education. There are so many subtle symptoms of disease that it is often difficult to tell if and when your pet is not feeling well. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions about your pet’s health. If your pet is not feeling the greatest, we have the knowledge and experience to get it back to good health.

SOFT TISSUE SURGERY

Spaying, neutering, declawing, tumor removals, bladder stone removal, oral surgery, and biopsies are just a few of the many surgeries we do here. Some surgeries are more difficult than others, and we have experience with most of them. If your pet needs surgery, be comforted by the knowledge that it is in good hands with us.

ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY

We routinely perform orthopedic surgeries such as: cranial cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery, patellar luxation (slipped knee cap) surgery, and fracture repair. Maplewood Veterinary Center
is one of few clinics that accept orthopedic patients due to lack
of experience and/or lack of instrumentation. We have plenty of both. If you have a question about hip dysplasia, arthritis, joint problems, or any other musculoskeletal problem, please contact us.

DIAGNOSTICS

Bloodwork, radiology (x-rays), urinalysis, parasitic exams (heartworm, intestinal), infectious disease tests are just a few of the types of diagnostic tests we run to improve the health of our patients. Each patient’s diagnostic plan varies, and therefore each patient’s treatment plan is individualized.

PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE

An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. That’s a saying we take very seriously. All too often we see so many diseases that could have been prevented. Routine vaccinations can prevent a wide variety of serious infectious diseases. Routine bloodwork gives us a baseline for each of our patients so that if something is starting to go wrong, we often start treating before your pet gets any symptoms.

Nutrition is also a major component to lifelong health. We carry Hill’s Prescription Diet foods because Hill’s is a company that devotes so much to each of their foods. There are many Prescription Diets and many are good for our healthy pets as well as the pets with chronic problems, so ask us which food would be best for your pet.

DENTISTRY

Just as we go to the dentist twice yearly to get our teeth cleaned, our pets require the same care. We clean and polish pets’ teeth just like our dentist cleans ours, the only difference is that our pets do not open their mouth voluntarily, so it does involve anesthesia. If any extractions are needed, they are done at the same time. Pets go home the same day as their dental cleaning. We even recommend switching to a certain type of food that is the equivalent of brushing their teeth with each feeding, how easy is that?
